History
The First Baptist Church of Haynesville was organized in September of 1901 when the members of the disbanded Friendship Baptist Church began meeting in the S. L. Simms Warehouse Building located on the corner of First and East Dawson Street.
Construction of the first church was on the site of the present educational building in 1902 costing $2,000. A need for additional space prompted the erection of a red brick building at the present site of the FBC sanctuary in 1913. Continued growth called for the construction of the present facility in 1925 at a cost of $65,000. In recent years, the entire church plant has been through stages of remodeling.
In the years since its humble beginning, through the dedication and commitment of its dedicated members, this magnificent structure still proudly graces the corner of East Main and First East Street beckoning all who will to come, hear and share the gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
